Thread: Standby mode in SB600 flashes.

    Standby mode in SB600 flashes.

    Hello fellow camera trappers! :)

I am currently using 2 Sb600 flashes externally with radio triggers similar to that of Camtraptions. But the flashes do not wake up on triggering when in Standby mode. They only wake up when Standby mode is off, but that drains the batteries in couple of days.
This problem doesn't arise when I use the Sb28, but I only have one of it.

Is there a way to make the Sb600 work in Standby mode?

If you install the sb-600 on the camera, does it work as desired?

I couldn't try that since I use Canon cameras. But it might be a possibility that it works as desired on camera.

So, when you connect the SB28 to the receiver, the camera will take the SB28 out of the sleep mode and fire on the first shutter activation?

Yes, exactly. But not the Sb600s.

It could be the SB600 only wakes from sleep with a full TTL setup. I wish I had one in the shop to test and confirm. If you know somebody with a Nikon DSLR, put your flash on it and test. If it works then you have your solution.

Thanks Jeff! I'll try doing that.
