    Montana Mountain Lion

A Cougar passing between three douglas firs on a winter night in Montana. After much scouting, I've come across a very reliable location and have had cats passing through here on a regular basis. This winter I've focused my efforts heavily around this location and have several DSLR camera traps strategically placed. Five flashguns were used to light this very large scene.

For this set I wanted to better convey the cat's habitat. Perhaps one of the things I enjoy most about camera trapping is being able to precisely craft a composition. It may take days, weeks, or even months to capture my target species, but to me it's all part of the process. It's extremely satisfying when it does happen, and you realize all the work you put in was totally worth it.

Not sure why, but the forum is killing the quality of this. If you'd like to a higher res version, check it out my Instagram feed HERE
