    A great horned owl

A great horned owl triggered this "stump set" I made for lynx. In my mind, I imagined a lynx stopping to sniff the trapping lure I placed on this interesting looking stump. The cat never showed but a fox, this owl and a saw whet owl triggered the trailmaster AIR/Nikon d3200 trap. I wanted the three sb-28s to create a Joe Sartore-style image: with the subject hit with moody lighting and a simple background. I love to get images of animals in an environment, with the lighting balanced between flashes and ambient. However, I am really into the studio work of Sartore. I want to create that look using truly wild animals. I miss a lot of sure shots in my quest for these.

Wow, very nice. I'm continually working on a raptor set. Very different than a set for mammals.
