Camera trap set up ideas.

I was actually after mountain sheep in this set up but caught this lynx in the rocks... D7000 on a Vanguard tripod on a steep side slope. Although this area was safe to climb around in....A tripod falling over could be catastrophic :/ . I use silicon covered tie wire in these situations and tie all 3 tripod feet to the ground with whats available (large boulders, roots from stubborn vegetation etc...) I had one sb28 connected via wired connection sitting in a simple $5 cloud clear plastic (diffuser colour)water pitcher with lid and a PIR on a magic arm attached to a solid rock. I tend to tie my gear to the ground or really stabilize it in place as coming back 3-4 weeks later....a fallen over or moved dramatically PIR sensor or movement of any gear can make all the difference. From the set up photo, I also make flash hangers on "tree" tripods I also use the silicon tie wire on with whats available. I couldn't be without the silicon wire ties....plus reusable...Anyway, some of my ideas...I'd love to hear what others are doing...always learning...Cheers Gerry

The lynx was from central Yukon in Canada next to Alaska. Cool idea with the bamboo. Here is a photo of what that trap was set for.
