I have had a break in my DSLR trapping for about a year. During the 2 weeks it was out, an old friend stopped by to say hello to the camera.

Being a little rusty, i placed the flashes little too much forward, so he almost came through the "field" of the flashes, and barely fitted into the frame.
But it was a nice start. The flash position mistake actually threw an interesting shadow on the head through the horns

Nikon D3200, Nikkon 24mm focus at 2m, f8 iso 400, 125/s
2x SB 28 1/4 and 1/8 power
PIR "one of those china few dollar wonders" ->200ohm resistor->optocoupler-> camera trigger port

Thanks,

During those 2 weeks, we got half a meter of snow in 2 days, then it went below -20C for about 3 days.

The SB-22 flashes were to my surprise still in standby (with standard AA Eneloop NiMh) as was the camera. The camera and flash enclosures were frozen solid in an ice cladding, so I took them home to be able to retrieve the memory card, and to charge batteries. Youngnuo flash triggers were dead, despite external AA Batteries.

That is the life of a camera trapper in the north.
